Son of Sam's real name was David Berkowitz who was accused of murdering six people. He was adopted at a young age but grew up in a normal household and Berkowitz was known for just being quite. No one knew what he would eventually become and because of his normal upbringing, he has been classified as a killer caused by genetics. He claimed that he killed because his neighbors dog as a child because it was possessed by the devil and told him to do so. He had been diagnosed with personality disorders as well as schizophrenia. An example of a serial killer's nature effecting their life would be Bundy who grew up under the custody of his grandparents because his mother was never able to identify Bundy's true father leading to his hatred of women.
